We consider the problem of appointment system for an outpatient department of a health care system. The problem is considered as a multi-objective having three objectives including minimizing the average waiting time of patients in the clinic, minimizing the number of patients that are waiting in queue and at the same time maximizing the doctor's utilization. The genetic algorithm and the simulated annealing algorithm are both used to construct a Pareto set that contains the non-dominated solutions from which the decision maker can make his choices based on preference. The performance of the two algorithms is compared based on their outcomes.

The methods are applied on a special case on a clinic, the various patients appointment times and the current system are modelled using ARENA.
